Protege touted to replace Serdang maverick Yap
KUALA LUMPUR: Serdang MP Datuk Yap Pian Hon has been called many things in life but the one nickname that has stuck is a cat with nine lives". Surviving many political obstacles, recent events however appear to suggest that the maverick politician has used up all those lives. Whats worse for the MCA politician is that his protege-turned-bitter rival Datuk Liew Yuen Keong is the man touted to replace him. The official line is that Liew, the Seri Kembangan assemblyman, is taking over under the partys plan to inject fresh talent into parliament. Only rumours. It is up to the partys leadership but my track record speaks for itself, said Yap when met at his office, showing off his daily schedule. Its a list of programmes taking him to every corner in Serdang, attending functions and addressing problems including flooding, traffic congestion and poor service by the local authority.
Russert falsely attributed "epitomized greatness" quote to Rev. Wright
Fox News' Sean Hannity similarly misattributed the quote on numerous occasions in January. Other media outlets -- in some cases citing Russert -- have misattributed the quote to Wright. Russert's falsehood about the quote was yet another in a series of falsehoods contained in questions he has asked during the Democratic presidential debates. Here is what McKinney-Jones wrote of Farrakhan in the article, which appeared in the November/December 2007 of Trumpet Newsmagazine: Because of the Minister's influence in the African American community, Trumpet Newsmagazine honors him this winter at its Sounds of the Shore gala with an Empowerment Award. It seemed a fitting tribute for a storied life well lived. And as our brief interview drew to a close and he thanked me for taking the time to talk to him, I could not help but think, the Minister, the man with whom I had been so casually speaking, truly epitomized greatness.
Toshiba After HD DVD: What Lies Ahead?
As recently as late January Microsoft was pushing its HDi technology at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. And Toshiba and Microsoft have revealed that the larger vision for HDi included a universe where multiple devices--including portable media players, servers, and content stored on the Internet--would use HDi to talk with one another. It's quite possible that Toshiba plans to continue exploring HDi--assuming Microsoft plans to continue pursuing the technology in light of HD DVD's demise. .

Super Bowl Intellectual Property Insanity: No Big Screen Super Bowl ...
Well here are a couple stories to leave you with as we head into Super Bowl weekend. Every year it seems there's some insanity concerning the NFL somehow trying to abuse intellectual property rights above and beyond what they're designed for. Remember, the NFL thinks that it can tell reporters how to report on a game, while also forcing them to advertise for NFL sponsors. It also has been known to issue bogus DMCA notices. And, of course, don't forget that not only has the NFL bullied people into believing that you can't use the phrase "The Super Bowl" in an advertisement, after many advertisers switched to the euphemism "The Big Game" to appease the NFL, it tried to trademark "The Big Game" as well. This year, the big news (as submitted by a lot of you), but first by Ryan, is that the New England Patriots have applied for a trademark on "19-0" to represent the undefeated season the team will have if it wins this season.
Denzler: Caught off guard by a proud moment
It has been my finding that no matter how trying some parental decisions and moments may be, witnessing a smile on a child's face on Christmas morning, being given a hug, a firm handshake by a young adult as they leave for college or simply being told goodnight before another day comes to an end are great rewards. With that in mind I wish to pass along a quote from Ecclesiastes: "Generations come and go but it makes no difference. The sun rises and sets and hurries around to rise again. The wind blows south and north, here and there. Twisting back and forth, getting nowhere. The rivers run into the sea but the sea is never full, and the water returns again to the rivers and flows again to the seas ... Everything is unutterably weary and tiresome. No matter how much we see, we are never satisfied; no matter how much we hear, we are not content, so I saw that there is nothing better for men than that they should be happy in their work.
