| Movie Talk
It is a fact that Tyler has the capacity to direct, and make all kinds of films, that he can make a BIG difference, and to show he has the ability to NOT be a steriotype only comedy making filmmaker. To show that he can be diverse. To mix it up sometimes, some comedies, some dramas, some thrillers, some science fiction. It is that his films are ALWAYS THE SAME STYLE. What is wrong with diversity even in black movies? Too many of our movies are ALWAYS comedies and many of our great actors in them are typed cast, to never escape this, or to be some kind of side kick in predominately white cast films. It is just irrating to see most of the OUR films on the big screen, as a bunch of knee slapping, heckling and jeckling, grinning and jinning blacks ALL THE TIME. It is Hollywood that looks at at us as mostly coons and bafoonery, and Hollywood that gives out the checks to only fund these comedy films for us, only looking for a quick way to make a fast buck.
Announcing the arrival of the first A380 in S'pore
IN A welcome fit for the 'new queen in the sky', the world's first Airbus 380 superjumbo landed at Changi Airport at about 6.40pm on Wednesday to a water cannon salute. It is a privilege reserved for the very special and the double-decker jet christened 9V-SKA on the Singapore aircraft register is believed to the first to receive such an honour at Changi. Dressed in SIA's livery, the giant bird - as long as a soccer pitch and with a tail seven storeys high - flew in in from the the Airbus headquarters in Toulouse. It was towed into position and docked at the soon-to-be-opened Terminal 3, where Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and about several hundred guests had gathered since 6pm in eager anticipation. The giant bird's flight to Singapore was piloted by a four-member SIA crew led by chief A-380 pilot Captain Robert Ting.
Smaller users get Microsoft's Online Services
Last September, the company opened its hosted software programme, called Microsoft Online Services, to businesses around the globe with more than 5,000 users. Now, as it moves rapidly towards the Internet-centric computing favoured by competitors Google and Salesforce.com, Microsoft has opened up the service to general use. Businesses pay a per-user subscription fee to access applications (such as email) hosted on Microsoft's servers, which usually works out cheaper than installing applications on their own hardware. Other advantages include faster software updates and lower maintenance costs. Microsoft, which built its fortune on so-called shrink-wrapped software, was criticised for moving too slowly into an area many analysts believe will develop into a significant portion of enterprise and small-business computing.
Founders' letters lag in delivery
From sunrise until about 2 p.m. each day, he was "drudging at the writing table." "The letters of a person," he once wrote, ". . . form the only full and genuine journal of his life." In his 83 years, Thomas Jefferson penned nearly 20,000 pieces of correspondence, many in Philadelphia. The prolific framer of the Declaration of Independence wrote about politics, science, math and horticulture. But about half his papers have never been published. Despite various efforts by dozens of scholars since 1943, vast portions of the letters written by and to America's Founding Fathers are unavailable to the public. Some of the documents won't be readily accessible until the middle of the century. The slow pace of their publication - largely attributed to insufficient funding and staff - has provoked the ire of scholars, Pulitzer Prize-winning historian David McCullough, and federal officials who describe the delay as shameful.
American Gangster (2-Disc Unrated Extended Edition)
"Academy Award winners Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe team with director Ridley Scott ('Gladiator') for an epic story as powerful as it is true. Armed with ruthless, street-wise tactics and a strict sense of honor, crime boss Frank Lucas (Washington) rules Harlem's chaotic drug underworld. When outcast cop Richie Roberts (Crowe) sets out to bring down Lucas's multi-million dollar empire, it plunges both men into a legendary confrontation." "American Gangster" is rated R for violence, pervasive drug content and language, nudity and sexuality. Mini-Review: I'm a fan of Ridley Scott, Russell Crowe, and Denzel Washington, so I was interested in seeing "American Gangster." After watching it, I found the film to be entertaining, but it was like a marathon watching it. I viewed the Unrated Extended Version which was about 3 hours long.

Wal-Mart encourages employees to post blunt comments about products on ...
Microsoft is one of Wal-Mart's biggest suppliers. But that did not stop the Wal-Mart employee in charge of buying computers from panning Microsoft's newest operating system, Vista. "My life has not changed dramatically" because of the new system, he wrote on his blog. "Well, for that matter, it hasn't changed at all." His public burst of candor was not isolated. On the same blog, a video game buyer for Wal-Mart slammed a "Star Wars" film as a "debacle," even though Wal-Mart still sells the movie. Known for its strict, by-the-books culture - accepting a cup of coffee from a supplier can be a firing offense - Wal-Mart is now encouraging employees who do the buying to speak frankly, even critically, about the products the chain carries. An unusual new Web site by Wal-Mart, which was quietly created during the holiday shopping season, has become a forum for unvarnished rants about gadgets, raves about new video games and advice on selecting environmentally sustainable food.
